State-of-the art health, education, research and A-grade commercial spaces sit alongside retail and lifestyle facilities. This infrastructure has been awarded a 6 Star – Green Star – Design & As Built v1.2 certification and Silver WELL shell and core rating.
Delivered in an operational environment, the seven-level building includes specialised integrated fit-out for CSIRO and three internationally-recognised research institutes.
The design finalisation of the facade design coincided with the height of Sydney’s COVID-19 pandemic response. To overcome border closures, a prototype was built in Sydney to facilitate key stakeholders’ input. Value optimisations by RCC resulted in $1 million in cost savings for the clients.
The Westmead Innovation Quarter, Stage 1 project was located adjacent to Westmead Hospital and a major arterial road, with close proximity to the light rail and local schools. Accordingly, a comprehensive interface management and traffic control plan was enacted.
“We have developed a ground-breaking research and development facility that draws together leading scientists, clinicians and researchers who can partner with communities, industry and government to deliver unparalleled health and medical outcomes, as well as new commercialisable devices and platforms."
